March 30, 2006 - WORK WISE UK LOOKS FOR SMART SPONSORS
BT signs up to campaign

More sponsors are being sought for a campaign which aims to make the UK the most progressive economy in the world.

Called Work Wise UK, the three-year initiaitve will encourage the widespread adoption of smarter working practices, such as flexible working, remote working, teleworking and working from home. Taking this modern day approach to working lives will increase business productivity and competitiveness, reduce transport congestion and pollution, improve health, assist disadvantaged groups, and harmonise our work and family commitments.

With the broad backing of government, business, the unions and other representative bodies, Work Wise UK will be launched at the QE2 Conference Centre, Westminster, on Wednesday May 3. It will be the start of Work Wise Week, which will include a series of themed days, highlighting the benefits of adopting smarter working practices. The programme will continue with a series of regional and national events across the UK, both business and consumer focused.

BT has already committed to the programme as one of the four private headline sponsors. The TUC, British Chambers of Commerce, Scope and Henley Management Centre are also supporters of a campaign which aims to fundamentally change the way people work in the UK, setting an example to the rest of the world – just as Britain led the way with industrialisation in the 19 th century, we are looking to lead the world in changing the work culture in the 21 st.

Sponsors will be able to participate fully with branding and sales opportunities available including website, events, literature, exhibitions and a comprehensive public relations programme.

Phil Flaxton, chief executive of the IT Forum Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation which is behind the campaign, is in discussions with various corporations. He said: “We are looking for a total of four headline sponsoring partners – there will be no lower level sponsors to dilute the branding opportunities.

“Sponsors will be able to participate fully in the branding, the literature and the extensive public relations programme planned surrounding the campaign, which starts in May with Work Wise Week, and then rolls out with roadshows and consumer events in the regions and to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.”

A website about WWUK has been launched (www.workwiseuk.org), giving guidance and assistance for those organisations wanting to adopt smarter working practices, and will include links to product and service providers.

Further information about sponsorship can be obtained from Phil Flaxton (phil@interforum.org).
