CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR UK BETTING

27 February 2001 - SIS today announced the contingency plans it has put in place to provide the best possible services to betting shops, in the wake of cancellations of UK and Irish racing during the current "foot and mouth" crisis.

The betting shop service will be adapted to include South African and Italian racing, increased BAGS greyhound meetings and more numbers betting opportunities. The existing service criteria of numbers of meetings will be maintained, as closely as possible, using these alternative sources.

Current contingency plans are for the service to include additional racing from:

Newmarket (South Africa)

Friday 2nd March
Walthamstow (BAGS)
Fairview (South Africa)

Saturday 3rd March
Monmore (BAGS)
Gosforth Park (South Africa)
Kenilworth (South Africa)
Varese (Italy)
Siracusa (Italy)

Sunday 4th March
Vaal (South Africa)
Clairwood (South Africa)
