ITALIAN GROUP ONE RACE SPONSORED BY SATELLITE INFORMATION SERVICES

08 May 2001 - SIS is to sponsor the Presidente Della Republica group one race at the Capanelle racecourse in Rome this coming Sunday, May 13th. The race is one of the track's most prestigious of the season and is worth in excess of £350,000 in prize money.

SIS recently signed an agreement with the Italian racing authorities to supply UK racing to Italy and to include televised coverage of Italian racing in its services to betting shops in the UK and Ireland. The move is further evidence of the expansion of the service SIS is offering bookmakers.

Director of Operations Terry Ellis commented "Our coverage of racing from Dubai, France, Italy and South Africa earlier this year was a huge tonic for the betting industry when UK racing was devastated by the foot and mouth outbreak and atrocious weather. Racing is a global sport and the seven entries in the Presidente Della Republica from trainers in the UK and Ireland demonstrates this fact very clearly. "

"The betting industry now looks beyond UK racing for its products and SIS is committed to providing its customers with a service that meets their future needs." He added, "Our sponsorship of the Presidente Della Republica is the first SIS sponsorship outside the UK and we are delighted to be able to start on such a high note."

The Presidente Della Republica race will be featured on SIS at 16.10, UK time. Amongst the jockeys slated to ride are the UK's Kieren Fallon and Richard Hills.
