College Achieves ‘People’ Award…..For The
Fourth Time! 29/03/05
Merton College has been accredited with Investors in
People (IIP) for the fourth time – a major achievement
for any organisation considering the scheme has only
been operating since 1990 and reappraisal happens every
four years!
The IIP standard helps organisations to improve performance
and realise objectives through the management and development
of their people.
The college met all 12 indicators by which organisations
are measured for IIP status, with the assessor’s report
containing praise for some aspects:
- the positive attitude of staff and their knowledge
and enjoyment of their role in delivering education,
- the provision of five professional development days
per year and an induction session for new staff,
- mentoring and support for new staff,
- lesson observations and the training provided for
those carrying out the observations.
Sally McEnhill, college principal, said: “All members
of staff deserve thanks for devising and implementing
the practices which have made Merton College an Investor
in People. It is particularly gratifying that we have
achieved it for the fourth time – a demonstration of
the continuing dedication and commitment of our staff
to ensure that the college progresses and develops,
and continues to provide a first class education to
the people of Merton.”
