launched at Merton College, 07/04/04

in the College which highlights some of the issues facing disabled people as
they attempt to get on in education.
Made by film maker and College Tutor Andrew Jenner, the
film will be used across the country as a training aid by
college staff who work with disabled students. Covering issues
around physical disability and sensual impairment, the video
features several of the College’s students and staff. It
was produced by the College and the All Saints Day Centre,
with support from NIACE, (The National Institute of Adult
Continuing Education)
The first screening of the film takes place at 12 Noon at
the College’s London Road site. Anyone who would like to
attend should contact the College’s Disability Access Officer,
Janny Koster, on 020 8408 6400.
Following the screening, there will be a workshop and discussion
on the video, including a competition to name the production
before it is distributed. There will also be an Access Technology
Fair, showcasing some of the systems which can help people
with disabilities to make use of learning aids such as computers.
The film itself lasts about 20 minutes and the workshop
and fair will run through till around 4pm.
