HEARING LOOPS FOR THE NATIONAL TRUST
Configure, the UK’s largest commercial building access consultancy, has developed a new product for use on guided tours to make access to historic properties easier.
The new portable induction loop allows hearing aid users to hear the commentary directly without any wires or other adjustments. The induction loops reduce background noise, and have a much bigger range than those used previously.
Configure trialled the product at Tyntesfield in North Somerset, and now many other National Trust properties have started to use the product. These include, St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall, Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire, and Kingston Lacy, Dorset, which have installed hearing induction loops and provided portable induction loops for guided tours. This work is part of the National Trust’s ‘Access for All’ programme, which has been implementing changes to its 300 historic properties for many years to make them more accessible for everyone to enjoy.
Configure provides a range of over 200 products and services to help organisations improve access to their goods and services. For more information visit: www.configure.co.uk
